Error: split infinitive

Se considera un error meter un adverbio entre "TO" y el infinitivo (split infinitive). Es correcto "to run quickly" y no "to quickly run".
Sin embargo, la famosísima serie de ciencia ficción "STAR  TREK" solía empezar con
las siguientes palabras:
Space: The final frontier
These are the voyages of the Starship, Enterprise
Its 5 year mission
To explore strange new worlds
To seek out new life and new civilizations
To boldly go where no man has gone before....
